Sunita Baura, LL.M, FCS

Ms. Sunita Barua is a competent governance, legal, and HR expert with over 26 years of practical experience in regulated multinational companies. Ms. Barua has a wealth of knowledge in corporate governance, statutory compliance, board and committee matters, and regulation, especially in relation to IDRA governance.
Being a Fellow Chartered Secretary, Ms. Barua is noted for her integrity, ethical approach, and board engagements. Ms. Barua has had several senior-level positions in the power and energy industry where she effectively carried out her duties in governance, compliance, and stakeholder engagements.
Currently, Ms. Barua serves as the Head of Human Resources and Company Secretary at Sembcorp North-West Power Company Ltd., where she leads corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and supports the alignment of business operations with strategic objectives. Prior to joining this organization, she held key roles at Pendekar Energy Ltd. and Covanta Bangladesh Operating Limited. In these positions, she was responsible for leading human resource strategies and managing corporate governance matters, contributing to the overall organizational effectiveness and compliance framework.
She holds an LL.M. and LL.B. from the University of Dhaka, as well as an MBA in Human Resource Management from Stamford University. In addition, she is a fellow Chartered Secretary, having completed the professional degree from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB).
